Piggy's Island Brand Identity and Interior Design

Piggy's Island opened its doors in 2011 as a Korean barbecue restaurant in Toronto, offering a space where families could enjoy fresh and excellent flavours in a spacious setting. Quickly gaining popularity, it found its place in Toronto as a comfortable atmosphere for family restaurant.

We embarked on a renewal project not just to enhance Piggy's Island as a restaurant but to expand it into a comprehensive brand. Initiating a new venture to inject fresh energy into the Yonge and Steeles area, we aimed to move beyond the familiar familial and warm atmosphere. Hoping that every guest who visits would find it to be a cozy retreat, especially during Toronto's long winters, we emphasized visual concepts related to islands, beaches, and vacations, drawing inspiration from places like "Jeju Island", "Woodbine Beach" or Caribbean, where city life and the beach coexist.

Going beyond the familial and warm atmosphere, we wanted this space to be welcoming not only for families and gatherings but also for friends, providing both a comfortable and casual environment. In addition to familiar dishes, we introduced trendier and fusion-inspired foods. The restaurant offers the true essence of Korean barbecue with fresh meats and a variety of seafood. Our goal is for Piggy's Island to grow and evolve with a renewed brand identity that captivates guests, allowing them to experience a delightful dining journey when visiting Piggy's Island.

To craft a distinctive customer experience, we employed resin flooring that mirrors a tranquil ocean with gentle waves. Strategically positioned palm trees and islands elevated the lively atmosphere of Piggy's Island, ensuring a vibrant ambiance. Deep navy tones were applied to both the floor (representing the ocean) and the ceiling (representing the night sky), complemented by pastel chairs to achieve a harmonious colour blend. Additionally, we concluded the design with rattan lighting to impart a cozy and warm feeling.

The menu of Piggy's Island has been designed in the format of a catalog magazine. We aimed to capture the feeling of enjoying delicious food and a leisurely cocktail while on vacation, creating an experience reminiscent of flipping through a magazine. One side features photos, while the other side presents the menu layout, attempting to depart from the traditional menu structure and explore a fresh arrangement.
